Buried Bodies

Lois Spurlock

Artist Statement

Lois Spurlock is a graduating Studio Art Major exploring interdisciplinary practices. She focuses on the formal elements by layering materials as an invitation to look deeper into the work. Conceptually, she is presenting data referencing the issue of Police brutality in America. Spurlock is calling attention to horrific events that have taken place across the nation, simply to result in databases where victims have become numbers on a list. Visually the information becomes lost in itself as reference to absurd quantity of cases loss or hidden in the Justice System.
