Kathryn Alcala

Dance Collaboration

Artist Statement:

Working in collaboration with the dance students has been a feat I have wanted to accomplish since the beginning of 13 lines being presented. Dance is another form of art that I have always appreciated because you are using your body to make the art. This piece helps bring together studio art with dance by using the dancers to paint with their movements. Playing music is what helps inspire movement. Adding paint to the dancer’s feet shows the movement they create. This piece is a performance piece but also a piece that is permanent with just the remnant of the dancer’s footprints.
