Business Threads

Amber Free

I am Amber Free, a senior photography major. I will be graduating in Spring 2020 and still discovering what I would like to focus on career wise in the future. In my current photography work, I am focusing on the body and printing in unconventional ways.

The 13 Lines project is an exploration of line and a way of pushing past photography as a medium for me. I am interested in interactive and performance art and wanted explore it further. The SHSU campus is large and has interesting places I had not previously viewed. When looking around the Smith Hutson business building, I discovered a lack of female presence on the walls and wanted to take notice of that discovery. In the College of Business Administration, there is a small Hall of Honor and of the 32 people in this hall, there are four women present. As a way of taking note, I have sewn, at the shirt cuffs, four white button up shirts together in a line. The performance is meant as a way to further honor and create a sense of community and solidarity for the women.
